1.Founders Award:
In recognition of exemplary achievements of people within
the global Asian community, Mother Teresa has been posthumously conferred with
the United Kingdom’s prestigious Founders Award this year.
Mother Teresa’s only living relative, her 72-year-old niece,
Agi Bojazhiu flew especially from Italy to receive the award on Friday.
2. North East-ASEAN Business Summit concluded (7 April to 9
April 2016):
The first-ever
three-day North East-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Business
Summit concluded in Imphal, Manipur.
It was organized to attract investment from both domestic
and foreign firms to the North-East states of India with an aim to generate
employment in the region.
It saw participation of delegates from the member nations of
the ASEAN, viz., Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand,
Malaysia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Brunei and eight North-East states of the country
and Bangladesh also participated in the Summit.
3. Saudi Arabia and Egypt to build bridge across Red Sea:
Saudi Arabia and Egypt agreed to build a bridge over the Red
Sea. The bridge will connect the two countries.
The bridge would help in boosting commerce between the two countries.
It will also connect the two continents, Africa and Asia, and result in
increasing trade between the two continents.
4. Climate Change Action Plan:
The World Bank Group (WBG) adopted the Climate Change Action
Plan. The plan was designed to help countries to manage increasing climate
impacts.
By 2020, the WBG aims to have assisted 20 countries in
enhancing their capacity to innovate in climate sectors and increase industrial
competitiveness in response to climate change.
5. Which Country recently ban paying for sex?:
French lawmakers passed a bill that makes it illegal to pay
for sex and imposes fines of up to 3750 Euro (4270 dollar) on sex workers’
clients.
