PLANNING COMMISSION

Government of India, which
formulates India's Five-Year Plans, among other functions.
2) The Planning Commission in India was formed in March 1950
under Chairmanship of Pt. Jawaharlal
Nehru.
3) Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first chairman of the
Planning Commission.
4) It is a statutory body.
5) It was formed to promote a rapid rise in the standard of
living of the people by utilizing the resources of the country, increasing
production and offering employment opportunities to all.
