1) Maharaja Ranjit
Singh’s statue to be installed in France : A statue of
Maharaja Ranjit Singh will be installed in France's Saint-Tropez town in
September 2016.
The town is the birth place of Maharaja’s Army General Jean-Francois
Allard.
Maharaja Ranjit
Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire in India.
2) Madhukar Gupta
committee:
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) formed a high-level committee,
headed by former Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, to suggest ways to
strengthen security along India-Pakistan border and to look into the issue of
gaps and vulnerability in border fencing.
3) Transnational
Skill Standards:
To align Indian workforce skill standards globally, The Minister of
State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has recently launched
“Transnational Skill Standards” benchmarked to the skill standards of United
Kingdom to prepare them to work in international companies having their
operations in India.
4) New Prime
Minister of Vietnam : Parliament
of Vietnam appointed Nguyen Xuan Phuc as the country's eighth Prime Minister.
He succeeded Nguyen Tan Dung.
5) New President of Kosovo : Hashim Thaci, the leader of the Democratic
Party of Kosovo, was sworn-in as President of Kosovo.
He succeeded
Atifete Jahjaga.
6) New Chairman of CAT : Justice (retd.) Permod Kohli took over as
the Chairman of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).
Kohli succeeded
Justice Syed Rafat Alam.
7) Actor Emraan Hashmi launched his book “The Kiss of Life: How a superhero and my son defeated cancer”.
The book narrates
the story of Emraan’s life when his family dealt with the horrific struggle as
his six-year-old son Ayaan battled his way through cancer.
