1) 7th April: World Health Day.

World Health Day observes  globally every year on 7th April.

The theme for the year is : Halt the Rise: Beat Diabetes.

The goals of the World Health Day 2016 are:

a) Scale up prevention
b) Strengthen care
c) Enhance surveillance

2) New Chairman of NASSCOM:

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) appoint Sh. CP Gurnani as its Chairman. He succeeded Sh. BVR Mohan Reddy.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies is a trade association of Indian IT and BPO industry.

4) Indian Open Badminton Championship:

Men’s singles : Kento Momota of Japan won men’s singles title at the 2016 India Open badminton championship.

Women singles : Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon won the women’s singles title by defeating Xuerui Li of China.

5) Asian Nations Cup Chess tournament:

Indian men won the 2016 Asian Nations Cup Chess tournament with a 3-1 victory over Vietnam in the final round played in Abu Dhabi.

6) RBI cuts Repo rate and increases Reverse Repo rate: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released its first Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Statement 2016-17. The key announcements of the policy are as follows:

a) Repo Rate: Reduced Repo rate by 25 basis points from 6.75 percent to 6.50 percent.

b) Reverse Repo Rate:  Increased by 25 basis point from 5.75 percent to 6.0 percent.

c) Marginal standing facility (MSF) Rate: 7.0 percent
