1) International
Labour Day/ International Worker's Day:
On 1 May 2016, International Labour Day was celebrated.
The theme was Celebrating the international labour
movement.
The theme assumes further significance with economic
relationships undergoing rapid change in the emerging global economic order.
About 80 countries across the world declared it as national
holiday.
2) Pradhan Mantri
Ujjwala Yojana:
Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala
Yojana (PMUY) at Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. It will benefit the poor,
especially the women aims at providing cooking gas connections to 5 crore BPL
beneficiaries over the next three years.
3) Chandranna Bima Yojana:
On the occasion of International Labour Day, Andhra Pradesh
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched Chandranna Bima Yojana in
Vijayawada.
It is an insurance scheme for the working class people covering
about 1.5 crore workers of the state.
Any insured worker who meets an accidental death and
permanent disability will be paid 5 lakh rupees.
Worker who suffers partial disability will be paid a sum of
3 lakh rupees.
4) Underground
corridor of Namma Metro:
Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu
and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the underground corridor
of Bangalore Metro Rail.
Bangalore Metro Rail is also known as Namma Metro.
The newly inaugurated underground section from Cubbon Park
to City railway station which is also called Purple Line, will be operational
from 6 am daily.
5) Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016:
Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 came into
force would help making necessary operational rules and setting up
institutional infrastructure for the interests of consumers.
6) Adi Praman, online app for tribal caste validity certificate:
Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao launched Adi
Praman, a web-based application to provide caste validity certificates
online, first time in any state.
The portal name is etribalvalidity.mahaonline@gov.in
7) Madhya Pradesh High Court stated that the reservation to
underprivileged during appointments is logical but reservation in promotions in the State as unconstitutional.
8) Indian shooters bagged 3 gold, 1 bronze on the opening day of the ISSF Junior World
Cup in Suhl,
9) Air Services Agreement:
Under the Convention of International Civil Aviation at
Chicago to promote international air services between their respective
territories, India and New Zealand signed an Air Services Agreement for
introduction of direct flights between the two countries.
