extended Line of Credit to Mongolia
India extended a Line of Credit (LoC) of 1 billion
US dollars to Mongolia.
The LoC was extended after delegation-level
bilateral talks between the Minister of State for External Affairs and Mongolian
Foreign Minister in New Delhi
2) Union
Government banned import of dogs for commercial breeding
Union government issued a notification banning the
import of dogs for commercial breeding. The imports are allowed only for
research or defence purposes.
3) Naveen
Patnaik inaugurated 100 rural drinking water projects
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated
100 piped water supply projects for rural areas. T
he CM also pledged to make piped water provision in
all gram panchayats by 2017.
4) Rajya Sabha
passed the Industries Amendment Bill, 2015
The Rajya Sabha passed the Industries (Development
and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2015.
The bill seeks to amend the Industries (Development
and Regulation) Act, 1951.
It proposes to bring industries engaged in the
manufacture of potable alcohol under the exclusive control of States in all
respects.
5) 29 April: Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare
The Day was observed on 29 April 2016 by
the United Nations (UN).
6) NITI Aayog launched urban management programme for capacity
building of states and urban local bodies.
7) Gujarat
government announced 10 percent reservation for EBCs
Gujarat government announced 10 percent reservation
for economically backward classes (EBCs) in general category.
EBCs in the upper castes, include Patidars, with a
family income cap of 6 lakh rupees a year that is 50000 rupees per month can
avail the benefit.
8) UJALA Scheme launched in Madhya
Pradesh
Union Minister for State (IC) for Power, Coal and
Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal launched National LED programme -Unnat
Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) in Madhya Pradesh.
