1) 1 lakh Rupees per
month to Rio-bound athletes:
Under the Target Olympic Podium (TOP) scheme, Union Sports
Ministry to provide one lakh rupees per month as out of pocket allowance to the
sports persons to help in their preparation for the Olympics and Paralympics
Games at Rio de Janeiro, which will start in August 2016.
2) LPG project in West Bengal:
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) got green nod for
its 694-crore rupees LPG project at Haldia Dock Complex in West Bengal for
developing LPG import terminal and storage, bottling and bulk distribution
facilities.
3) FPAI Player of the Year:
Football club Mohun Bagan and Indian striker Jeje Lalpekhlua
won the Football Players Association of India (FPAI) Indian Player of the Year
award.
Nigerian striker Ranti Martins was named
the Foreign Player of the Year.
4) Draft of Supreme Court Judge (Investigation Act)
2016 approved by Bangladesh Cabinet chaired
by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
5) First time 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championships to be held in India:
The Judo Federation of India (JFI) announced that India will
host the Commonwealth Judo Championships 2018.
6) Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2016:
The Lok Sabha passed the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill,
2016. The bill propose removal of an exception made for Sahajdharis in 1944
that allowed them to vote in elections for the Board and committees instituted
under the Act.
7) Indo-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise, Nomadic Elephant – 2016:
Nomadic Elephant – 2016, the 11th Indo-Mongolia joint
training Exercise commenced on 25 April 2016 in Mongolia for promoting military
associations between India and Mongolia and to fight in Counter Insurgency and
Counter Terrorism environment under the United Nation mandate.
8) World Intellectual Property Day 2016:
On 26 April 2016, The World Intellectual Property Day 2016
was observed globally.
The theme was Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined.
9) India's
first online interactive portal – Sahapedia:
The Union Government launched India's first online
interactive portal on the cultural heritage of the country, Sahapedia.org. It’s a collection of
resources on the diverse heritage of India.
It is non-profit society, headed by S. Ramadorai, who is the
head of the National Skill Development Agency.
10) Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill, 2016:
The Lok Sabha passed the Regional Centre for Biotechnology
Bill, 2016 to provide statutory status to the existing Regional Centre for
Biotechnology in Faridabad, Haryana.
