Most influential people in the world:
Time Magazine released a list of 100 Most Influential People having some
kind of significant impact on the world.
The list includes RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, tennis player Sania
Mirza, actress Priyanka Chopra, Google CEO Sundar
Pichai and founders of Flipkart, Binny Bansal and Sachin
Bansal.
2) First
African-American to appear on US paper currency:
Anti-slavery activist Harriet Tubman,the first African-American and
the first woman in more than a century will replace Andrew Jackson, the
seventh President of the United States, to appear on US $20 bills.
3) President' Rule in the
State quashed by Uttarakhand High Court:
The Uttarakhand High Court quashed the imposition of President' Rule in
the state and revived the term of Congress Government headed by Harish Rawat.
The court said that the President's decision is open to judicial scrutiny.
4) Pakistan, China to
launch a special satellite:
Pakistan and China signed an agreement to launch a special satellite to check
the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
5) 22 April-International Mother Earth Day:
22 April observed as International
Mother Earth Day with the theme ‘Trees for the Earth’ having goal
of planting 7.8 billion trees over the next five years.
Paris Agreement on Climate Change, also signed on 22 April
2016 at UN Headquarters in New York.
6) 10th Civil Services Day:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th Civil Services Day in
New Delhi.
7) World’s first region to end malaria:
As per World Health Organization (WHO)’s World Malaria Report 2015,
Europe became the first in the world to end malaria with indigenous malaria
cases dropped from 90712 in 1995 to zero cases in 2015.
8) Twitter Seva:
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched a service named Twitter
Seva to address queries and grievances of startups, exporters and
importers, and other stakeholders within 48 to 72 working hours.
To avail
this service, one can use the hashtag, #mociseva on
Twitter.
