Sevi Samman Awards
The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented the Hindi
Sevi Samman Awards for the years 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Fourteen
scholars receive this award in seven different
categories every year for their contribution in the field of Hindi language and literature.
2) George
Grierson prize for promoting Hindi
Chinese professor Ge Fuping has been
honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee with the George Grierson prize for his
remarkable works done for the propagation of Hindi abroad.
These awards were instituted by Central Hindi Institute, Agra in 1989.
3)World
Press Freedom Index
The 2016 World Press Freedom Index was
released by Reporters Without Borders
(RSF).
The Index ranks 180 countries according to the freedom allowed journalists.
Who
was at the top position?
Finland
retained its top position for the sixth consecutive
year, followed by the Netherlands and Norway.
Who
was at the last position?
Eritrea
was at the last position i.e. 180th.
About
World Press Freedom Index
The Index is published annually by RSF since 2002.
It is based on an evaluation of media
freedom that measures pluralism, media independence, the quality of the legal
framework and the safety of journalists in 180 countries.

ranked 133rd in 2016 World Press Freedom Index
India with a score of 43.17 was ranked 133
in the 2016 which means progress of just 03 ranks from the previous year i.e.
2015 in which India ranked 133 out of 180 countries.

CEO of BCCI appointed

appointed
Rahul Johri as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
