World Sports Awards:
World No. 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the
Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award.
US tennis player Serene Williams won the Sportswoman of the Year Award.
These Awards were given in Berlin, Germany.
It is annual award given by Laureus World
Sports Academy since 2000. It celebrates the most remarkable men and women from
the world of sport.
2) Five time Emmy winning Hollywood actress Doris Roberts died on in Los Angeles.
3) Meeting
of Foreign Ministers of Russia, India and China held
The 14th meeting of the Foreign Ministers
of the Russian Federation, India and the People's Republic of China was held in
Moscow, Russian Federation.
Who
attended the meeting?
a)From Russia: Foreign Minister Sergey
Lavrov,
b) From India: Union Minister of Foreign
Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj and
c) From China: Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's
Republic of China Wang Yi took part in the meeting.
The Ministers decided to hold the next
trilateral meeting in India.
4) The
Islamic Summit Conference was concluded in Istanbul, Turkey.
The theme of this year’s conference was Unity
and Solidarity for Justice and Peace.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is
an international organization founded in 1969 consisting of 57 member states.
5) Maharashtra Government imposed restriction on digging of borewells
beyond 200 feet because of the steep decline in ground water level in the
state, which at present is facing recurring droughts
6) Infosys co-founder launched a new app named ‘Itihaasa’ that chronicles Indian IT journey since the 1950s.The
content is in the form of videos which includes the interview of FC Kohli, Azim Premji, N R Narayana Murthy and N Vittal.
