Carlo Masters title (Tennis)
Rafael
Nadal defeated Gael Monfils to win Monte Carlo
Masters title.
The Monte-Carlo Masters is an annual tennis
tournament for male professional players held in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, a commune that borders on
Monaco.
2) World’s
50 Future-ready Cities
National Capital of India, Delhi has been ranked 44th among the world’s 50 ‘future-ready
economies cities’ that are embracing technology for growth which was revealed
by the recently released report ‘Future-Ready Economies Model’ by the
Information Technology major Dell.
The list is topped by San Jose. The cities were positioned in the list were evaluated
along three dimensions human capital, infrastructure and commerce.
3) Google extends free internet service through
WiFi at Bhubaneshwar railway station
Google rolled out free Wi-Fi service at
Bhubaneswar railway station on 17 April 2016.
The free internet service was extended as
part of Google’s tie up with Railtel, the internet provider arm of Indian
Railways.
Bhubaneswar railway station became the
second station to be covered under the Google-RailTel Wi-Fi project, the first
was Mumbai Central Railway Station which was provided with wifi facility in
January 2016.
Further, trials are going on at about 10
more stations which include Jaipur, Patna, Ranchi, Ernakulum, Allahabad,
Lucknow and Guwahati.
4) Satyanand Munjal passes away
The co-founder of Hero Cycles group Satyanand Munjal passed away in Ludhiana, Punjab.
He had co-founded the Hero Group, which has
now emerged as one of the largest business conglomerates in India.
5) Supercomputer Param Kanchenjunga unveiled
Supercomputer Param Kanchenjunga was
unveiled at the National Institute of Technology, Sikkim. It has been named
after Kangchenjunga mountain, the third highest mountain in the world.
Param Kanchenjunga has been jointly
developed by Pune-based Centre for
Development of Advanced Computing ‘C-DAC’ and the NIT Sikkim at a cost of three crore rupees.
