becomes the Brand Ambassador of Skill India Programme
The ministry for skill development and
entrepreneurship has named Cricket
legend Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador of the 'Skill India' campaign. Sachin said in a statement that the
campaign is an opportunity for the nation to make full use of its young
population.
2) Dadasaheb
Phalke Award:
Priyanka
Chopra won Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2016.
The Dadasaheb Film Foundation will honour
the actress with her first Best Actress of the Year award on the occasion of
147th Dadasaheb Phalke Jayanti.
3) Malaysia
Open 2016 Title:
Lee
Chong Wei won the men's singles title at the
Malaysia Open 2016 held at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
He grabbed the title by defeating China’s
world No. 1 Chen Long by 21-13, 21-8.
4) International
Boxing Federation Heavyweight Championship:
Anthony
Joshua, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist, won the
International Boxing Federation heavyweight title. He knocked out Charles
Martin in the second round at the O2 Arena in London.
He captured his first world title in only
his 16th professional fight.
5) Master
Golf Championship
Danny
Willett won the US Masters Golf Championship. Willett grabbed the title after
defeating defending champion Jordan Spieth.
The 2016 Masters Tournament was the 80th
edition of the Masters Tournament. It was held from 7 April to 10 April 2016 at
Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
The Masters Tournament, also known as The
Masters or The US Masters, is one of the major championships in professional
golf.
6) C Silvera, former MP, died
Former Union Minister and Congress leader C
Silvera died in Tuikhuahtlang, Aizawl district of Mizoram.
He was the first and so far the only Mizo
to be in the union council of ministers.
