Justice D.K. Jain has been appointed as the chairman of 20th
Law Commission.
Union Government of India announced
Justice D.K. Jain, Judge
of Supreme Court of India will be the Chairman of the
20th Law Commission of India. Justice
D.K Jain is set to retire as the apex court judge on January 24, 2013 and would
take on the chair of the Chairman of the Law Commission on the same day. The 20
th
Law Commission will start from September 1, and its 3-year term would end on
August 31, 2015.
20th Law Commission of India: The 20
th
Law Commission would include the following:
1) Identify laws which are no
longer needed and can be immediately repealed.
2) Identify laws which are not in
harmony with the existing climate of economic liberalization and need change.
3) Examine the Laws which affect the poor.
4) Examine the existing laws with a view for promoting
gender equality
