Shri Ranjit Sinha, a senior IPS officer of 1974 batch (Bihar
cadre) today took over as Director of the CBI (Central Bureau of
Investigation). Prior to joining CBI, he served as DG, ITBP.
The 59-year old Sinha, who will have a two-year tenure, had
served in the agency as DIG and joint director during his earlier stints. He
has been associated with the investigations of a number of sensitive and
important cases of national and international ramification.
Shri Ranjit Sinha, a Post Graduate in Science from Patna
University, an MPhil from Indian Institute of Public Administration in New
Delhi, Sinha is an avid writer and regular contributor on police-related issues
in
various journals and magazines. A recipient of Police Medal for Meritorious
Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Sinha has
served as SSP at Ranchi, Madhubani and Saharsa districts and also as DIG of
naxal-affected Magadh Range in Bihar
