1)The 16th NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) summit was held at Tehran, Iran on 30-31 August 2012.The theme of the summit was Lasting Peace through Joint Global Governance.Venezuela was selected the host for the 17th NAM Summit in 2015.

2)India successfully launched its Heaviest Satellite GSAT-10.

3)APEC Russia 2012 Summit
The APEC Russia 2012 Summit is the 24th annual gathering of APEC leaders of 21 countries.Leaders from the member economics are currently meeting on Russky Island, Russia from September 2-9 ,2012.

4)Delhi Transport Corporation green signaled Ladies’ Special Buses with women conductors on 27 September 2012 from 11 different points across the city.All this has been done to ensure safe and comfortable journey for the ladies during the peak office hours in the city.

5)US, India and Afghanistan held its First Trilateral Discussion
The meeting was held at the Afghan Mission in New York and was attended by Joint Secretary (Pakistan/Afghanistan/Iran) Y K Sinha and Joint Secretary (America) Jawed Ashraf from the Indian side, Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin, US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Marc Grossman and Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake.

7)The Government of India hiked the foreign investment cap for the broadcasting service providers to 74 percent.

8)India on 19 September 2012 test fired its nuclear-capable surface-to-surface Agni-IV missile from Wheeler Island, off the Odisha Coast. Fitted

10)Reserve Bank of India slashED down the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) by 25 basis points to 4.50 percent from 4.75 percent.

11)Pakistan successfully test fired nuclear-capable Babur cruise missile on 17 September 2012 with a range of 700 km.

12)The Union Cabinet 2012 cleared the proposal of foreign direct investment (FDI) for 51 percent in the multi-brand retail chains and 49 percent in Aviation power exchanges industry.

13)The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon visited India from 1 to 4 September 2012.This was the fifth visit to India by President Emomali Rahmon.  During this visit, India and Tajikistan signed six agreements in the field of sports, health, culture, education, labour, textiles and energy.

14)Vice president of India Hamid Ansari released the book “Muslim in Indian cities”.

15)India slipped down with 3 ranks to 59th position from its previous year ranking in the Global Competitiveness Report 2012-2013 released on 5 September 2012 by the World Economic Forum.

16)The Bhilai Steel Plant won the Prime Minister’s Trophy for the 10th Time.

17)India, Pakistan to ink 3 pacts to boost economic activity:
Hoping that the forthcoming visit of External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna would lead to a liberal visa regime agreement, Commerce and Industry Minister, Anand Sharma, said India and Pakistan would soon ink three agreements in the areas of customs co-operation, mutual recognition of standards and redressal of trade issues to give a fillip to economic activity.

18)India, Pakistan ink visa agreement:
Pakistan and India have announced that they will ease tough visa restrictions, an important step forward in improving relations between the nuclear armed neighbours.

19)Govt launches Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme:
The Finance Minister P Chidambaram approved the Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme (RGESS).While the RGESS is aimed at encouraging first time retail investors to invest in stock markets through tax concessions, the cut in withholding tax to 5 percent seeks to lower the cost of foreign borrowings by the Indian companies.The RGESS will give tax benefits to new investors who invest up to Rs 50,000 and whose annual income is below Rs 10 lakh.

21)Ranbir Kapoor starrer Barfi! has been nominated as India’s entry to the Oscars next year in the foreign film category.

22)Aishwarya Rai Bachchan appointed as International Goodwill Ambassador.

23) Indian boxer and London Olympic bronze medalist M C Mary Kom on 24 September 2012 named as the brand ambassador of super fight league.
