Among 23 authors, famous poets honored with
the awards are (late) Kabir Phukan (Assamese), Manindra Gupta (Bengali),
The well known novelists Kashinath Singh (Hindi),
Gopalakrishna Pai (Kannada),
also received the awards.
Lalit Magotra (Dogri), Grace (Marathi) and
Samala Sadasiva (Telugu) got the awards for their books of essays.
Ramachandra Gula (English) for his book of
Narrative History, Mohan Parmar (Gujarati) for his book of short stories, MK
Sanu for his book of biography and Mohan Gehani (Sindhi) for his book of plays
have been honored.

Mangeshkar Award
Hindi film music composer Veteran Rajesh
Roshan was honoured with Lata Mangeshkar Award by the Madhya Pradesh government
on February 8, 2012. The award for 2010-11 contained 2 lakh in cash and a
scroll of honor.
Vyas
Samman
Ramdarash Mishra, noted Hindi writer and
professor, has been selected for the 21st Vyas Samman for his poetry collection
Aam Ke Patte' published in 2004.
Padma
Awards
The Padma Awards for the year 2012 were
announced on the eve of India's 63rd Republic Day. The President approved 109
awards including one two case and 14 in the category of Foreigners INRs PIOs
Posthumous. The
award 2012 comprised of 5 Padma Vibhushan, 27 Padma Bhushan and 77
Padma Shri Awards. There were 19 women among the awardees.

Prize
A 23 year old girl from Kolkata has become
only the third Indian after Amartya Sen and Sir Partho Dasgupta to win one of
Cambridge University's highest honors Stevenson Prize.
Mahima Khanna a resident of Alipore who
works in Mumbai as a trade analyst has topped the 2010-11 M Phil class of
economics at the University.

Ashok Chakra
President of India Pratibha Patil conferred
the Ashok Chakra on Lt. Navdeep Singh (posthumous) on the 63rd Republic Day in
New Delhi. Lt Singh laid down his life fighting terrorists during an anti
infiltration operation along LOC in Cruez sector on August 20, 2011.

Green Globes for outstanding efforts for a greener future. He received the
