Railways to hire 1.5 lakh workers: Railway Minister finally decided to remove ban for filing up new vacancies in railway. Indian railways is going to conduct fresh hiring of employees this year. There is total 1.5 lakhs vacancies in railways.
In the 2013-2014 budget, various trains will be launched this year. So if the train increase, then staff should also increase.  The railway has decided to recruit more than 1.5 Lakh jobs in all over India this financial year for various staffs.

Almost half the jobs will go to the reserved categories, which is again seen to be an exercise driven by political necessities. Of these 1.52 lakh vacancies, 47,000 will be filled by the Scheduled Caste and Tribes and the physically challenged, Rail Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal announced on Tuesday.

The railways 10 years ago had almost 16 lakh people working for it, now it is only about 14 lakh which are reducing gradually even trains and work load increasing slowly but surely.

The recruitment process has already started to recruit 47000 staff in more than 60 cities in all over India.

The launch of new trains and services is the major factor for the recruitment drive in addition to 1 lakh retirements this year resulting in more jobs. But with nearly 14 lakh employees, railways is already the largest employer in the country and accounts for around 40% of the central government workforce estimated at 34 lakh during the current financial year.
