Y.V. Reddy named chairman of 14th Finance
Commission of India.
The Government of India constituted the 14th Finance
Commission of India. Former RBI Governor Y.V.Reddy will be the chairman of 14th
Finance Commission, the govt. said. Y.V. Reddy to check the distribution of
resources between central govt. and state govt.
Apart from sharing of tax between the Centre and the State
govt., the Commission has been asked to suggest steps for pricing of various public
utilities such as electricity, water in an independent manner and also look
into issues like disinvestment, GST, sale of non-priority PSUs and subsidies.
Y.V. Reddy was India's Executive Director on the Board of the
International Monetary Fund before September,2003 when he join RBI as its
Governor.
Finance Commission is a constitutional body and is selected after
every five years. Vijay Kelkar was the chairman of 13th Finance Commission of India.
